The Guatemala City basurero is the largest garbage dump in Central America. It’s not a place anyone wants to be near, much less ‘work’ at. But for hundreds of guajeros, everyday is spent sifting through refuse looking for items to recycle. Correspondent John Burnett reports.

A new investigation by the Applied Research Center shows that when parents are detained, they can do little to advocate for their families. And that means more children are getting swept into foster care. Maria Hinojosa talks to the Applied Research Center’s, Seth Wessler, about this alarming trend.
