I am a minority. As a minority, I have always been interested in the problems of minorities, especially the causes. I am particularly interested in ethnic conflicts, such as in Northern Ireland and have concluded that all such conflicts have a common underlying factor; whether it is in East Timor, Kosovo, Bosnia, Mindanao, Somalia, Puerto Rico, Fiji, Sri Lanka, Kashmir, Tibet, Chechnya, Israel, etc. All the minority groups are experiencing the same underlying problem which has in turn resulted in the common desire for independence, regardless of the geographic location or culture of these minority groups. I heard the special on Valerio Longoria this AM on KDVS Grass Valley. Great stuff. I like many others am a displaced Tejana. Here by necessity not by choice. CA is now my home but aleays long for the Onda Tejana here in CA. I have some greeat ideas on some stories for your programming. But we do not get Latino USA in Sac, just heard about it thru local NPR radio.

In your program #352 (Jan. 7-13, 2000) it's mentioned that "there is an explosion of the number of radio stations broadcasting across the US." For research purposes, I'd like to know this exact number. Could you please help me with this information?

Latino USA is a great program that I listen either on the radio or in the web. It gives plenty of information about the latino culture in the US, problems and issues as well as the needed cultural "bath" to remind me who I am and where I come from.
