IMMIGRATION LAWSUITS As ICE steps up its raids across the country, in California a new set of lawsuits are challenging some cities sanctuary status for undocumented immigrants. In San Jose, Los Angeles and San Francisco, lawsuits have been filed by local citizens who say they want the police in their towns to uphold state law and notify ICE if they arrest a person on drug related charges who may be in the country illegally. Throughout the state, city governments have instructed local police not to participate in immigration raids and in many cases, not to contact ICE agents at all, even if the state law tells them tonow, some police are speaking out in support of the lawsuits. Nancy Mullane has this report from San Jose, California. COMMENTARY: IMMIGRATION Commentator Ruben Navarrette has written extensively about immigration.
