MUSIC MIGRATION EXHIBIT What do you think of when I say 'Latin music'? Maybe you think of salsa, cumbia or Tejano music. Certainly, those would qualify, but what about jazz, rock and roll, or hip hop? Latinos have had a role in the forming most of the music we think of as American, though their contributions have not always been obvious or recognized. But now, as KUOW's Liz Jones reports, a groundbreaking exhibit detailing this history kicked off in Seattle last month, and curators say it finally shines a light on a piece of American history that's been left in the margins.
