Today: the lighter and darker sides of childhood. Host Maria Hinojosa speaks to K, who works with detained children who came to the United States without an adult. We examine Latino studies, or lack thereof. We examine the uneven impact of dress code policies on kids. We hear a children’s book read by author Yuyi Morales and about the life of NYC librarian Pura Belpre. Teachers in California write a book in the indigenous Mexican language of Mixteco. And from the mouths of babes comes this week’s sabiduría.

No, Maria, you can not steal.billions more from us. Millions of dollars in Arizona for English as a second language, illegals steak from handicapped, disabled, and intellectually challenged children for educational and nutritional needs they can’t get because of these law breaking children. Millions in caring for and feeding these chasten, stolen from American children in need. They aren’t on the street. My ass they suffer. Put them back in the desert over the border in June. Let’s see how they suffer. We ARE Taking care of them at the expense of our children you wining felon!
This is terrible propaganda. Shame on NPR. A. These children DID break the law and now Maria wants to not only steal from the American taxpayer to cover services for Adult illegal immigrants, but she wants to steal from American orphans the services we pay for them to give to lawbreaking children from Latin America. The system is not failing these people. We don’t owe them anything. Get off your criminal high horse Maria and stop advocating robbing American foster and orphan children. You American child murderer.
I’m all about free speech, but this comments are pure hate speech, I’m really sorry to see that people come here to hate instead of opening a intelligent conversation/debate.

Thank you Maria Hinojosa for providing relevant content and important perspectives. Thank you for celebrating the life and work of Pura Pelpre! Today we are celebrating the good news that Latino students’ math scores have significantly increased during the last decade! The positive impact of this is huge for our community and the country.
