Kenan Thompson is generating online buzz for his impersonation of Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz this weekend on “Saturday Night Live.” In case you missed it, here’s the clip:
It isn’t the first time Thompson has played Big Papi, who is retiring at the end of next year. What do you think of Thompson’s character? Comedic brilliance or just the latest example of SNL’s “Latino problem?”

The first time he played the role I found it more amusing. This time it felt a bit hackneyed. Overall I thought it was okay, but it certainly highlights SNL’s “Latino Problem”
I’ve been boycotting SNL since Donald Trump’s appearance, but since this pertained to the subject relating to Latinos I allowed myself. Besides it’s not difficult watching their shows when they’re clearly not funny. The segment itself wasn’t offensive in my opinion, but we’ve always seen opposite time after time media portraying us awfully.
Hollywood is dying, and our source of venue will be online. Whether that’ll be youtube or other online platforms we’ll have a much better say in it. Which is why we must create a coaltion of platforms to navigate through our vested interests. We can have a better representation of ourselves instead of others portray us.
