People often assume that technology will make our lives better, and much of the time, it does. But sometimes there are bumps along the road.

On this episode of Latino USA, we hear from a family separated by deportation that manages to stay connected via Skype. We also tell the story of how the second largest school district in the country tries out an ambitious plan to get technology in the classroom, only to catch the attention of the FBI. We also meet an activist in Mexico who uses technology to share and gather information, making him a target due to his online presence.

Stories about technology’s benefits, risks and limitations, now playing at Latino USA.

This episode was made possible by The Kapor Center for Social Impact: relentlessly pursuing creative strategies to leverage tech for positive, progressive change.
