At the end of the very successful May 5 Latino Vote 2016 event hosted by De Paul University’s Latin American and Latino Studies Department with an assist from the Futuro Media Group (the company that produces Latino USA), actor/comic/writer Cristela Alonzo spoke to the crowd about Hispandering, the role of Latinos in the 2016 election, how Hollywood views Latinos and what the South Texas native has in store for the future.
I’m from McAllen, TX, al lado de San Juan… Cristela’s story resonates with me as a 1st gen. Chicana. My siblings and I also had a legal resident mother who struggled to get us a better piece of the American pie but were never privy to our political force. Gracias Cristela for taking on your mother’s legacy in advocating for our ancestors and our children. Hispanos, Latinos todos si valemos más de lo que pensamos, nuestra voz importa, y nuestro voto cuenta! Hágase contar, vote!
