The winner of Best New Artist at this year’s Latin Grammys was Dominican singer-songwriter Vicente Garcia. He first entered the music scene as the lead singer of the funky and eclectic band Calor Urbano. Since going solo seven years ago and touring with celebrated Dominican musician Juan Luis Guerra, Garcia’s music took a Caribbean turn. In addition to winning Best New Artist, Garcia also took home the Best Tropical Song Latin Grammys honor for “Bachata en Kingston,” which combines bachata and reggae.
In this segment, Garcia breaks down the composition and lyrics of “Dulcito e Coco,” a song from his latest album, A La Mar.
