For families who have been separated by immigration or deportation, sometimes a calling card is the only connection to home. That’s why filmmakers and producers Frisly Soberanis and Alvaro Morales created The Family Reunions Project. It’s a virtual reality project where a person in the United States can put on goggles and headphones, and watch a 360-video message from their loved ones abroad—essentially video postcards but much more immersive.
Soberanis and Morales tell Latino USA how their project came together.
