The tech industry has had a hard-to-shake problem with diversity. One organization that is hoping to bring more people of color into tech is Code2040, a non-profit based in San Francisco that works to create opportunities for African-Americans and Latinos in the tech industry.

Starting in 2012, Code2040 has helped Black and Latino entrepreneurs across the U.S. connect with tech companies and create businesses of their own. The organization’s vision, according to their website is an “innovation economy where Black and Latinx people are contributing as technologists, investors, and leaders.”

Maria Hinojosa sits down with Karla Monterroso, the CEO of Code2040, to discuss how diversifying tech might help close the racial wealth gap.
