Alana Casanova-Burgess

Alana Casanova-Burgess is a producer for On The Media.

Sje has been a producer for On The Media since 2015 and owns two hats crocheted by Brooke Gladstone. At OTM, she gets to satisfy her curiosity with segments about How The Environment Got Political and why Puerto Ricans are using the word “colony” more these days.

Alana was previously with WNYC’s Brian Lehrer Show, the best local news talk show in the land, where she produced live radio about everything from police-community relations to art and neuroscience (plus some other stuff like a public radio national election network). In 2017, she spent a month reporting on the ground in Puerto Rico for the WNYC newsroom, culminating in a special episode on Hurricane Maria recovery for OTM. She was a Livingston Awards finalist in 2018, was part of the team that produced the award-winning hour on the U.S. Supreme Court, and her work has also been recognized by the ONA, PRNDI, and the Council on Contemporary Families. She is a bilingual native New Yorker with roots in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism.
