Lukas Southard is an intern at Latino USA. He is a native of Oakland, CA but has been living in the New York City area for 10 years. He worked his way through the restaurant scene of Manhattan and Brooklyn before working for the past 4 years as a whole animal butcher. Currently, he is a graduate student at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY. He intends on reporting on food systems, environmental issues, and how these stories give voice to marginalized people.
