Vicki Adame
An award-winning journalist, Vicki Adame spent 15 years working for various media outlets in California and Washington State.
As a reporter, she delved into the issues immigrants faced and brought to life the struggles encountered by minority communities. Her work covering the dilemma undocumented students in Washington State faced in their pursuit of a college degree led the Washington State Legislature to pass a law granting in-state tuition rates to undocumented students.
While working for the bilingual publication, Vida en el Valle, she and a photographer spent 10 days on the border between California and Tijuana, talking to immigrants who had been deported, those attempting to cross through the desert and the organizations in Tijuana who provide refuge to those immigrants.
She is currently working on her master’s in journalism at CUNY Graduate School of Journalism.
