Julio Torres is the mind behind some of the most unique skits on Saturday Night Live to date. He authored “Melania Moments,” a series of short vignettes that poke fun at the First Lady while also painting her as a moody, pensive prisoner of circumstance. He’s behind the parody commercial “Wells for Boys,” a Fisher Price toy made especially for sensitive little boys.

Torres grew up in El Salvador but dreamed of coming to New York City from a young age. Now he lives there and performs stand-up while at the same time writing for SNL. Maria Hinojosa sits down with Torres to discuss his childhood, his burgeoning comedy career and his unique sense of humor.
