Jess Alvarenga

Jess Alvarenga is a documentary filmmaker using visual storytelling as a way to document and reimagine immigrant narratives, particularly that of the Central American Diaspora. In Spring 2017, she was awarded an Individual Artist Grant from the Houston Arts Alliance and the City of Houston for her work on the Central American population in Houston. Jess is currently completing a Master of Journalism at UC Berkeley and is the New York Women’s Foundation Fellow at NPR’s Latino USA.
